Finding Our Way In Life

by Mary Simonds (Chrissy's mom)

When we were on the Other Side /Heaven before this life, we wrote out a plan for our life experiences, as difficult as it may seem sometimes.

I grew up on a very large farm in Missouri. My Father was hoping for a son to help with the daily outside chores. Because the day of my birth was Christmas, he thought he’d get his wish, however he did not. But as I was expected to work like a boy, I learned to do the many necessary daily outside chores required for country living. Later in my adult life, my experience was vital.

Following high school when I was away at college, I met my future husband. I had never dated before, but one day he said, “Marry me next weekend or you’ll never see me again!” At the courthouse the Justice of the Peace noticed that I was 20 years old and my husband was 36. He asked me three times, “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Later, after being married and having three children, my husband, who was raised in a large city, decided he wanted to buy a farm. After just moving in, he said to me, “I’m going to clean this place up and sit back and enjoy this for the rest up of my life!” I thought to myself, “Oh my God, this man has no idea what he’s in for!”

Much later on in recent years, I would say to him in a light-hearted way, when decisions needed to be made, “Are you sure you want to do that?” It was my way of using levity to make what felt negative to me before, into a positive, with humor.

We have an abundance of experiences and decisions to make in this lifetime to enjoy and learn from. These are a few glimpses into my life, I thought might help you reflect on how everything we chart to learn is useful at some point, and how we can turn a negative into a positive.

Best wishes to all of you in every way!

Mary Simonds💛
